MEMORY CIRCUIT
An elliptical journey through a personal archive.
Memory Circuit grew out of the process of digitizing dozens of hours of home movies, dating back as far as the 1930s. The original images were shot on a variety of formats - first 8mm, eventually VHS. In some cases, 8mm footage had been projected and rescanned with a VHS camera. By the time of digitization, the footage was highly degraded, having passed through several generations of transfers.
Selecting footage without any human presence yielded a bank of material from which a narrative structure emerged.
